Walgreens Patients Caught In The Middle

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walgreens for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Walgreen's   negotiations  with Express Scripts has been unsuccessful. They will no longer  be a part of it’s  pharmacy provider network. This applies to  all Walgreens pharmacies nationwide.  It's is still beyond belief that Walgreens and Express Scripts have parted ways.
This unnecessary event initiated by Express Scripts’ is immensely creating  mental agony among patients on their health plans. Express Scripts operates as a middleman between pharmacies which provides the health care service and employers and health plans,  paying  for the medications .The Patients covered by an Express Scripts plan are now not only  left with having to change pharmacists, but also  to go out of their way to get prescriptions filled at pharmacies with  a lot of inconveniences  in their schedules. It is much easier  for patients to get refills at Walgreens as they offer more 24-hour and drive-thru pharmacies than any other pharmacy in the country. One of Express Scripts’ clients is Tricare, which is the health and prescription drug program for America’s military service men and women. In an attempt to avert the country’s military personnel from being caught in the middle,Walgreens took a unique step in proposing Express Scripts an assurance that Walgreens prices would equivalent the average costs per adjusted prescription of all other pharmacies in the Tricare network. However that proposal  too has failed. For years patients have had a good rapport with Walgreen pharmacies and now they feel  dejected and left out.

Nevertheless,Walgreen is taking steps to reduce the chaos and the confusion created by this stoppage and is  offering a special discount on annual membership for it's Prescription Savings Club at Walgreens .Those interested can join during a special January promotion for only $5, or $10 for a family membership and enjoy  savings on more than 8,000 brand name and all generic medications.
