Happy New Year

'Each new day is a blank page in the diary of your life. The secret of success is in turning that diary into the best story you possibly can.” I wish you a Happy New Year and a diary full of best stories ever written in your life.'

A Bouquet For Adgitize

"At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.
" -Albert Schweitzer-

Thank you Adgitize! I shall bid you farewell now..

A Handy Way To Recycle Pamphlets

Every time a new brand in the market is introduced everyone gets to know about it instantly.Even a full time housewife like me.No not what you are thinking .It's not via the internet or the television but  guess what? It's  via  pamphlets that are delivered at our doorsteps everyday.Whenever a new brand is up here at the shopping  malls,we are loaded with heaps of these paper advertisements which are left on our doorsteps by employees working for these hyper markets. These companies spend so much of money printing these advertisements which are so beautiful and  eye catching that  I dont have the heart to throw them away.Instead I make use of them in the house for the children's class assignments and as table mats.In a previous post I spoke about my daughter's class project on recycling..While my daughter and her team were working on a  fashionable outfit out of old newspaper, another  classmate  created a designer clutch out of pamphlets.

Farewell To Adgitize

Today, I learnt that Adgitize, a favourite network, will be closing it's doors by the end of this month.I really liked and admired this work force.I am truly amazed  how the team  behind this network, worked effortlessly  to serve their clients and the  network's community members.I first joined this network as a publisher and with  time, I became an ardent member  and  enthusiastically participated in all the activities in the network which  brought in points. Thus was able to  advertise my blogs in their network. My blogs gained some exposure..I had visitors browsing my page.I am sad once this network shuts down we wont be able to interact with the 'Adgitizing ' friends  again unless of course someone comes with an idea soon..
I will definitely miss Adgitize  'Goodbye to you my trusted friend...'

Some TidBits

This vase and the flowers are so dear to me.They are made out of glass. My husband bought this for me when our oldest was in the first grade. So they are kind of special. There are many stories associated with it.They are so delicate that I handle them so carefully.Today I got up earlier than usual because my whole body was aching. Drinking a cup of hot tea really helped soothed the pain. All of us are  feeling  a bit disappointed over the fact that we could n't make it for my nieces's wedding. However I called my Dad in the morning and got some details about the wedding. They all had missed us..In any case my niece promised to upload some pictures.By the way, by a strange twist the children's school  declared this Saturday and Sunday  holidays.

The Holiday Season

Everyone  is waiting in anticipation  for the holidays..As soon as December approached we started  talking and discussing  about the impending holidays, gifts, entertaining and of course the  partying .We don't celebrate Christmas but we love enjoying the holidays and wishing and greeting our friends who celebrate this happy occasion.I always make it a habit to design my own cards online and send them across to friends via e-mail.Holidays also rekindle my childhood memories. Before the advent of e-mails it was the postman we all looked forward to during this joyous season. We would wait in anxious to receive greeting cards from family and friends.I remember so vividly even to this day,my siblings and I loved to decorate our living room with the holiday cards we got.And proudly remind the visitors to take a look that the cards hanging on the window sill and the mantle .So to make us happy they would all have a look at them ,like as if they were on a tour at the art gallery. The recollection  was indeed  a part of my growing years and some of  my happiest memories.
Happy Holidays to  my  dear blogging Friends!

This is a card I designed online

Mistaken Identity

Ask a ten year old anything but politics.Recently during the General knowledge period  in my sons class, they were questioned on current affairs. They were shown  a picture of  the recently humiliated Libyan leader and asked to identify .They all  seemed to know the answer and  very confidently answered amid loud  giggles; ‘That's Mr Bean! ‘

Working As A Team

My daughter's class is taking part in a school program where they have to do fashion designing out of recycled paper. My daughter and a few of her friends have to actually create these while some  have to dress the designed outfits and walk on the ramp during their morning assembly. This is in order to create awareness on recycling and reuse among the ninth graders.Last weekend my daughter asked a couple of her friends to come over to our place to put together their ideas and work as a team  to design something. They were using old newspapers, shopping bags and some unused garbage bags to make a designer outfit. Since they were going to spend the whole day at home working on their project,I suggested that they get permission from their parents to have Lunch and Dinner with us.They gladly accepted my invitation. While they were busy designing and painting,I was busy in the kitchen preparing some delectable dishes to pamper the taste buds of  my  daughter's guests.

I let them use a big mat to work on their class project so that the carpet  would n't   get soiled and stained  with any accidental spills.

The place looked all messed while they were working but thankfully they cleaned and cleared the place once done.

Junk Food

Sometimes when I am tired and need a break,I ask hubby to order some food from out.And before placing our order via telephone we make it a point to ask the children what they would like to have.It is very rare that they ask for a healthy meal. They are a bunch of junkies especially my boys..If given a choice they  will enjoy  eating  junk food three times a day. They love chicken burgers and fries .Generally we let the coke, which comes free with the order, come down to  room temperature before letting the children consume it.Every time they drink when its chilled they come down with a sore throat. On the other hand, my daughter who is a vegetarian,  has n't much of a choice when it comes to  junk food.Nonetheless she  happily indulges in  the left over coleslaw.

Whatever The Weather...

Whatever the weather I 'll weather the weather, whether you like it or not!

This was taken outside our apartment. My son all ready for school and  posing for the camera. This particular day was extremely chilly so he was all dressed to keep warm.A cool breeze was sweeping across and his nose was getting stuffy .The monkey cap came in handy.

This Morning's Marathon

This morning was very hectic. I woke up a little late than usual and from then on everything didnt go well.I normally keep the children's uniform ironed and ready the previous night but I had forgotten to do that. This morning  the ironing took longer than the other days  and I hadn't put the kettle on for tea.Oh dear Me! It was already six and my husband hadn't  woken up the children.Everything went wrong .The van was scheduled to be on time: sharp at six forty five. And yet nothing was prepared for breakfast or for the childrens' school break time snacks. But thank God ! It was like a marathon.I raced so hard to complete my tasks just a minute before the van tooted .Now I am all relaxed and sipping my morning tea.

Stop And See The Rainbow

We may run, walk, stumble, drive, or fly, but let us never lose sight of the reason for the journey or miss a chance to see a rainbow on the way.

My Newest Culinary Know-How

For years I have tried making this dish with rice but couldn't get the exact taste or for that matter when ever I tried this dish, it did n't tempt or tantalize anyones taste buds with the aroma that was supposed to emit out of the pot.I tried and tried in vain but never gave up. A couple of days back,I prepared this dish, which is popularly known as Biryani and it turned out right .What a feat it was. Finally I was in jubilation. Everything about it came out so beautiful. And the aroma for the first time roused my children's taste buds and the stomachs. They enjoyed it so much that they had second servings.Wasn't I so happy!Biryani is a dish  cooked with aromatic spices and herbs and assembled mostly with curried chicken or mutton with plenty of tomatoes and potatoes.Next time I would love to invite my circle of friends and share with them my newest recipe.

Dunking Toast

This morning for breakfast,I made myself a cup of steaming tea and  some hot toast.I loved dunking  toast in tea, especially during this cold wintry morning. It made me warm.Even the thick blanket that I had  wrapped myself with couldn't stop my shivering. The children too needed a few warm clothing. They couldn't wear the previous years jackets and stuff. They have out grown them.A while ago hubby took them to the stores to purchase a few.I decided to stay behind to prepare dinner.Tomorrow two of my children will go on a field trip which has been organized by their school. So they need to gear up well in winter clothes.I hope they find some good and durable  clothing to last for another few years.

Climate And Weather Changes

This is outside our apartment. I took this picture through my apartment window a few days ago.Its so dark and gloomy even with the  lights beaming in a few shops.Anyone looking at this might think its middle of the night.Hey ! you are wrong. Its five o'clock in the evening. That particular day the weather was playing havoc. It was pouring the whole day.It was very windy and chilly Many shops and businesses came to a standstill.Even the schools remained closed that day. However the most amazing thing about this is how nature  can change if and when she wants. While this particular day remained unpleasant the whole day, nature played a dramatic role the next day by making it  beautiful with clear blue skies and a gentle breeze.Sometimes even  the forecast can go wrong when nature decides to unleash her powers.

Social Gathering

The weather is getting colder by the day and I am looking  for every possible ways to keep myself and the children warm. The strange thing is,its so  cold inside the house. And all I want to do is cover myself in blankets and drink cups of hot tea.Anyway for the most part of the morning I was in the kitchen preparing two types of food  to take out for a social gathering. So that kept me warm for a short time.I finished the cooking and had a hot bath to get over the feeling of being cold.It was not that chilly when we  set off to our destination with the pots and dishes.I wholeheartedly enjoyed the gathering with friends and their families. The friendly atmosphere ,the good food and  steaming cups of tea  was more than enough to  make myself cozy. The children were very happy as they had fun with their friends. The weather also made us very hungry. We shared and enjoyed the food everyone had brought  and were  happily exchanging recipes.
