So You Think You Can Draw!

Yeah! my son proved to me this weekend....

I was petrified when I heard my children were getting an extra day off  from school before the weekend. As much as I loved to keep them at home,I wasn't prepared for this. The reason was 'How am I going to keep them occupied?'.The older of the boys would always complain about being  bored, if he did nt have anything worthwhile to do.I thought I would make them play some indoor games like Scrabble or the Twister-I prefer them playing with the scrabble board,as it helps them with their vocabulary. The Twister on the other hand though it is much fun could bring the roof down with their screaming.Boy! Oh Boy ! did they surprise me with their preference. They quietly settled down with their Tom and Jerry Magazine. And what more! My ten year old created a small booklet with  sketches  of Tom and Jerry. (he loves to  copy draw pictures from  Magazines) .And what do you think the youngest did? He happily  assisted  the brother.

New Mugs For The Children

I saw these mugs at a department store recently and purchased them right away. Not only did their colours attracted me but also because it was economical.Of late, my younger children at home have not been careful handling ceramic ware.Hence I decided to get them use these plastic ones until they learn to take care of the ceramic ones.I try as much as possible to teach them to take proper care of the things in the house and also their personal belongings. They love their coloured mugs and my youngest is all smiles when sipping  his favourite drink from his favourite mug..

Ginger Tea

Everyday around 10.o'clock in the morning, when I am doing  my online tasks I need to drink a cup of tea. It's not just a cup of plain tea but  a cup of tea  with  ginger added .I let pieces of ginger steep in hot boiling water for a few minutes so that the water absorbs all the flavour from the ginger .Then I pour  the tea through a strainer, add a little sugar and enjoy. Some love it with honey or slices of lemon .This is refreshing  and  helps my nerves  to be relaxed all morning.Ginger produces   a spicy   flavour and a pleasant aroma. It  is also  used as a home remedy for minor and common illnesses.

God Created Healthy Food,Satan Spoilt It

What I am sharing with you is a beautiful life's lesson that came my way via email. The moral of the whole lesson can be comprehended very easily. The title says it all..or perhaps you could take a hint from this  and try to eat healthy as much as possible.Avoid food that has preservatives and eat organic food.God bestowed upon mankind food in its purest and natural form. But Satan had other plans and whispered unhealthy ideas into mankind's ears...

Read and be the judge..

In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth and populated the Earth with broccoli, cauliflower and spinach, green and yellow and red vegetables of all kinds, so Man and Woman would live long and healthy lives.
Then using God's great gifts, Satan created Breyer's Ice Cream and Tim Horton's Donuts. And Satan said, "You want chocolate with that?" And Man said, "Yes!" and Woman said, "and as long as you're at it, add some sprinkles." And they gained 10 pounds. And Satan smiled.
And God created the healthful yogurt that Woman might use to keep the figure that Man found so fair. And Satan brought forth white flour from the wheat, and sugar from the cane and combined them. And Man's belt went from size 32 to size 40.
So God said, "Try my fresh green salad." And Satan presented Thousand-Island Dressing, buttery croutons and garlic toast on the side. And Man and Woman unfastened their belts.
God then said, "I have sent you heart healthy vegetables and olive oil in which to cook them." And Satan brought forth deep fried fish and steak so big it needed its own platter. And Man gained more weight and his cholesterol went through the roof.
God then created a light, fluffy white cake, named it "Angel Food Cake," and said, "It is good." Satan then created chocolate cake and named it "Devil's Food Cake."
God then brought forth running shoes so that His children might lose those extra pounds. And Satan gave cable TV with a remote control so Man would not have to toil changing the channels. And Man and Woman laughed and cried before the flickering blue light and gained pounds.
Then God brought forth the potato, naturally low in fat and brimming with nutrition. And Satan peeled off the healthful skin and sliced the starchy center into chips and deep-fried them. And Man gained pounds.
God then gave lean beef so that Man might consume fewer calories and still satisfy his appetite. And Satan created McDonald's and its 99-cent double cheeseburger. Then said, "You want fries with that?" And Man replied, "Yes! And super size them!" And Satan said, "It is good." And Man went into cardiac arrest.
God sighed and created quadruple bypass surgery.
Satan smiled and created HMOs.

In any given meal time if  a variety of vegetables were placed in front of my children to feast, they would only choose corn and wouldn't even attempt to taste the other vegetables. They relish boiled corn and love to eat it with plenty of pepper, salt and butter.Recently I purchased a pack of wooden skewers so that it would be easy to hold the corn and eat comfortably.Over here corn is very popular.Children can be seen leisurely tagging along their parents in shopping malls and parks, heartily eating a corn-on-the cob.We see many tiny corn stalls all over public places like the park,Corniche, and malls.Even adults like me,love to eat a corn piping hot with fresh pepper, butter and salt. And perhaps a dash of lemon juice as  extra flavouring.

Table Mat

It was a bit awkward for my ten year old son when the teacher told the class that they were going to weave a mat.He thought it was girls stuff. He did it anyway and is very happy now.Once done they were able to bring it home. And guess what? As soon as he came home from school .He removed his 'pretty' creation out of the plastic bag and said.. "Mom this is for you ".

A Narrow Shave

It was past six when we woke up this morning and we quickly blamed it on our clock for forgetting to alert us on time.It was already very late so we couldn't send the children to school.Anyway all of them were sound asleep.I was a bit anxious though for  they would miss a few lessons taught in class and would have a lot of  notes to copy once they get back to school after the weekend: (over here in the Middle East Thursday and Friday is the weekend)
Since  the  children were at home, I leisurely prepared breakfast.Cozily sipping my hot cup of tea in my comfort zone, I was wondering what on earth could have gone wrong with our alarm clock, when  the shrill of the  telephone cut short my thoughts.I got goose bumps when I heard the news that was floating via the telephone .There was a chemical gas leak  in the Dammam area  and all schools located in and around that area was asked to close and the school children were immediately evacuated. Also the residents were advised to stay indoors. Luckily my children were at home.Thank god for the alarm clock!

Our Anniversary

Today my husband and I celebrate our nineteenth wedding anniversary. After wishing him and sending him off to office, I quickly logged on to the computer to do some finishing touches to a special card I created digitally.

After making  necessary additions in the card, I surprised him by sending  it to his office via email. And in return he sent me a note of appreciation.Wow! exchanging notes to and fro made us feel  like a  young couple all over again..Then when he came home in the evening, he surprised me with this....

A Busy Afternoon

This afternoon  was busier than the other days.We were doing too many things at the same time.We went to  the children's school. My younger daughter had her Parent-teachers meeting  and  the sons were attending badminton classes. As soon as the meeting  was over ,we  went to the school indoor stadium to watch  the boys  practice badminton. At the onset only my ten year old was being coached along with boys of his age and older. Our youngest , who is seven, showed a keen interest in the game  and persuaded us to enroll him  for the class. After giving some thought , the coach let our youngest join the rest of the boys.

Straight from school we took the children for an ice-cream treat .They were  thirsty and hungry as well .They wanted the biggest cones. There were  a variety of flavours  to choose from.

The youngest  happily indulged  in the colors of  the rainbow while the other opted for  butterscotch.Later we did a little bit of shopping before heading home.

What's The Time Please

My seven year old still doesn't know how to tell the time. But was adamant that we  purchase him a wrist watch. He already had an answer, when my husband and I told him that he first  needs to learn how to tell the time before tying a watch around his wrist. He promptly answered that once the watch is on his wrist ,he'll learn it automatically. Thus we gave in to his wishes and purchased an inexpensive one.He is as happy as a lark nowadays..The only time he knows anyway , is  when he gets the aroma from my kitchen and says 'It's dinner time'!

Go Nuts !

I love to snack on nuts.I cannot resist the fresh nutty taste  and the crunch of cashew, almonds and pistachio..Nuts make great snacks in between meals and anytime I feel  hungry.I prefer these to eating comfort foods like sweets. They are full of nutritious values and keep the body healthy and free from fat.It also helps to curb my  hunger pangs..I always remember to purchase a bag of mixed nuts whenever we shop for grocery.

Clay Modelling

My youngest took part in his class clay modelling competition. So we had to purchase  a few extra boxes of clay for him to  practice at home.My older son was helping him create some models before the D-day.How ever after the practice session was over ,they continued with the molding and shaping the clay .I was very surprised when I saw they had molded their favourite  chicken burger. And as witty as they are , invited me to take the first bite....

They scared the hell  out of me with this creature.Look where they had placed it..On the computer table where I always love to be..
