The Miracle Source Of Water

The Well of Zamzam , which is considered a  ‘Miracle Well’  by the believers of Islam, is located  within the Masjid al-Haram in Mecca,Saudi Arabia. This well has been generating water for the last thousands of  years. And has been providing water for millons of pilgrims  who come to this sacred mosque in Mecca .It is phenomenal indeed! This well has never gone dry regardless of the millions of liters of water consumed every year. It is believed in  Islam that this well  was  a miraculously generated source of water from God.The story dates back thousands of years ago when Abraham's (Ibrahim) infant son Ismael was thirsty and kept crying for water and was stamping the ground when water surged out. Millions of pilgrims visit the well each year while performing the Hajj or Umrah pilgrimages and  grab the opportunity to savour this water. They also take back to their homeland  a few bottles of zamzam. Many believe that the zam zam water has healing powers too.

Fun With Bacronym

I had no idea what backronym was when I first  heard about it.But with  some  reference and a quick research in the internet,I came to comprehend the meaning. A backronym or bacronym is a phrase created purposely. Backronyms may be put together with serious or humorous intent, It is constructed by taking a word  that is already in  use and creating a new phrase using the letters in that particular word.It is fun dealing  with familiar words and phrasing them anew. Here are some examples of backronym which had been already  put together (not by me)

NEWS   -North,East,West,South
COLD    -Chronic obstructive lung disease
AIM      -Ambition in mind
DATE    -Day and time evolution
PEN      -Power enriched in nib

Now this is by me.....

End -Everything now dies...
Bye -Be yours eternally :)

Have fun and enjoy making phrases with your familiar words..

Weekend Getaway

Today we went on a road trip to Bahrain. We traveled through the bridge that connects Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.Fortunately we reside close to  the area  where the bridge is.We were already late when we left home and reached our destination by lunchtime.

As soon as we reached the city centre, the children said that they were hungry. We decided to first satisfy the hungry bellies before proceeding further. Each one of us ordered different type of food  from the food court in the  mall where we were visiting. While waiting for the food to be served, a large bill board caught our attention. An advertisement which  deemed fit...

After having our meals,we leisurely walked  around the mall.We did some window shopping too. And by evening it was time to watch a movie at the theatre. The boys wanted to watch Spy Kids 4. But my daughters didn't want to watch it.No amount of cajoling made them give in .However after a  debate , my teenage daughters agreed to watch the movie too.

Nose Bleed

Today my ten year old didn't go to school.-The reason..He was having nose bleeds on and off.I thought that he had gotten over this completely. For the last three years he has been experiencing this, which happens  so suddenly at unexpected times, whether playing, eating or having a shower. At the beginning it was so scary to see so much of bleeding from the tiny nostril. His doctor has however reassured us that nose bleed in children is a common occurrence during harsh weather conditions.Everytime his nose bleeds,(which is once a month or several times a month)I take the advice given by the Doctor,to stop the bleeding.I make him bend over and get him to pinch the nostril and there after apply a lubricant,But then it happens all over again...Despite this, he is hale and hearty...I am just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this...

Make Our World A Better Place

Our world would be a better place if mankind strictly and genuinely adhered to the following ruling, statement or saying.

'Hate no one, no matter how much they’ve wronged you, Live humbly, no matter how wealthy you become, Think positively, no matter how hard life is, Give much, even if you’ve been given little, Keep in touch with the ones who have forgotten you, and forgive who has wronged you, And do not stop praying for the best for those whom you love'.

Back To School

School has reopened after the Summer break. The children were initially not happy getting back to school after almost two months. However  just one day of attending school I noticed that they seemed glad meeting friends and classmates.During the last week of their summer break, they were all busy, trying to finish their school holiday assignments. They had to ignore the  television and the computer to complete their tasks.I am glad they did that or else they couldn't have completed on time. It was very difficult to revert back to their normal bedtime  after the holidays but I guess they will adapt to normalcy during the course of this week. Now I too have to adjust accordingly.Back to waking up early and handling the pressure of the mad 'Morning Rush'.

Foods For Moods

Foods For Moods.Yes you got it right? Well before you can speculate or wonder what I am trying to say, I'll tell you what the topic is about. It's the latest addition to my book cupboard.I am  in awe reading this book, which relates to food and what it does to make our hormones do the things that they do. Certain foods mentioned here in this book really helps keep our body intact and away from harm and yet some other foods  bring about some sort of a chaos within our body. There is detailed information about beneficial nutrients found in certain foods that can actually help certain health disorders. And most significantly it alerts us which  food we eat and drink pave the way for a mega stressful life. The most surprising news that made me gape is about a  couple of facts I learnt about two food items: chocolate and celery, which I thought  were just incredible, but true according to the source of the book. Chocolate acts like a stimulant. When a person is addicted to chocolates it gives rise to depression of withdrawal when it is not available. And on the other hand when celery is eaten a kind of chemical is excreted in the perspiration and when released, the odour is irresistible.

Something to Remember

That's the flag of Sri Lanka

This is a souvenir I brought back with me from my trip to Sri Lanka. This is a lovely wooden crafted showpiece, a map of Sri Lanka and with multiple uses. This could be used as a pen holder and also a sort of a calender to remind me of a specific date. There are also two wooden blocks with numerals embedded from zero to nine. My daughter's favourite number is thirteen, so you can already see that she has arranged the dices accordingly. This memento will keep me refreshed of my memorable trip to the paradise island.
