Spectacular Fireworks

Every year during the Eid festival holidays,we take the children to the park which is along the Khobar corniche,to watch the fireworks that is displayed in a grand scale.A throng gather this area to watch this fireworks which is a part of the festival celebrations.Unfortunately this time we couldn't take them as we had some friends visiting home. However we got the opportunity to witness  the event right from home.It was after a while when the guests had left that we heard loud bangs. The sons got excited .My husband said that we might be able to watch the fire display from our rooftop. So armed with my weapon-the digital camera,we all raced up the stairway and onto the rooftop. The children were really amazed to actually see it in the night  sky right from where they stood. It was spectacular!

This particular one is really beautiful .I zoomed the camera to click this picture.Don't you think it looks like a cluster of tiny balloons.

A Free Gift

As promised ,my husband and I took the boys to the toy store for being in their best behavior this holy month of fasting.Obviously there were many latest attractions displayed in the toy store as the countdown to  the Ramadan festival is drawing closer. My children were very keen about a particular toy  that worked on a remote control..It was a toy flying helicopter. They were both thrilled when the store salesman demonstrated how it functioned. This worked well both indoors and outdoors. It was fascinating to see it swirling higher and higher with just a push of a button.Watching my sons ,I knew how badly they wanted it.As both of them were not willing  to share ,we had to buy two, with a slight difference in the prices. As we were about to pay  for the toys at the  checkout, we got a surprising news .There was an ongoing promotional sales in the store and whoever bought two items got to choose a third item for free. Upon hearing this, my sons dashed to the section where toys that worked on remote control were showcased. They chose a robot as their free gift which was valued at $25.Returning home with their hands full, they were beaming with joy.

That was Gross !

Even though I was dead tired after the various chores I had attended a little earlier, I decided to make a vegetable curry for dinner. The choice of vegetable was the fresh bag of beetroot, which consisted about five, that we had purchased from the supermarket.Yes! that would be an ideal dish to go with the plain rice that I was about to prepare.Reviving a certain recipe at the back of my mind,I washed the beets carefully and pat dried them before plunging a knife through the biggest one.. Oh My God ! what was that thing I saw in there.Would you believe if I said so..A big, fat, curly worm laying comfortably right in the centre of the beet.My whole mood changed after that. However, eventually I decided to discard the veggie  with the worm into the thrash bin and continued making the beetroot curry with the remaining ones.Pssst..I haven't yet divulged this piece of information to the children.Perhaps tonight I will.

To Be Married Or Not To Be..

I found these lines in an email sent to me.As hilarious as it sounds,it is sometimes true...Read and be the judge..

Question:
Why do couples hold hands during their wedding?
Answer:
It's a formality just like two boxers shaking hands before the fight begins!

They say that marriage makes a man dizzy, and it's true.
'As soon as I got a wife, I lost my balance at the bank'.

Before marriage:
Roses are red,
Sky is blue.

After marriage:
Roses are dead,
And I'm blue.

Mode Of Transport

For people living near the reservoir, travelling to the mainland by road is very difficult and time consuming ,so to get about their daily work, the easiest and fastest  means of transport is using the ferry.

What Does This Look Like

Guess what you can make out of these pictures. At first glimpse you would wonder if these were sheep in the meadow.Well you could be wrong. Here I was standing outside the balcony of our holiday cottage and I was fascinated by what I saw.A tea plantation right in front of me but between me and the plantation there was a big lake.To get over the other side,I had to take the ferry.I had no chance. So the next best think I did was to shoot a picture. This was clicked from a distance.I kept wondering what those white spots were. Then I learnt that they were tea pluckers. These are women plucking   quality tea leaves in the valleys of the Sri Lankan hill station.

Breathtakingly Beautiful

This looks like a painting but it is not. This was the view from the window of the holiday home, where we were vacationing.I took this picture from my digital  camera. It was morning and the scenery was superb.I couldn't resist clicking my camera. The bungalow we stayed was atop a hill, overlooking a lake. The weather was so cool and pleasant and I wish we stayed a couple of days more.

We ate good Sri Lankan food and enjoyed its breathtaking scenery.Alas! all good things must come to an end.It was a sad moment when it was time to bade goodbye.
