Bags Are Packed

Today  the whole family was busy packing the bags in preparation for our summer vacation .We will be flying home next week .The children are already excited and was very helpful. This time they wanted to select the clothing they wanted to pack.Since the weather is going to be warm in the home destination,I suggested they fold and arrange neatly  some cotton clothing into the bags. While packing ,we realized that a few of the clothes that we purchased last year ,did n’t fit them now.How time flies! They have grown by a few inches this year. Hence I promised the boys that we will do some shopping for new clothes when we get  home. We also became conscious that within a year a lot of changes had taken place. Besides the clothes I packed  an important item :my notebook with all the passwords of the sites that I browse daily. If there is good internet connection  while holidaying ,I will definitely be visiting all my favourite sites and  blogs.A note to my entre card- droppers ,I will try my best to keep dropping, but all depends on the speed and efficiency of the internet services  in my home country.

Words of Wisdom

Surely there is something in the unruffled calm of nature that overawes our little anxieties and doubts; the sight of the deep-blue sky and the clustering stars above seems to impart a quiet to the mind.

Heat Exhaustion In Summer

Now that summer has arrived ,children should avoid going outdoors to play during the peak time. When children are exposed to the sun for a long period, they could end up getting sick.Playing overactively in the sun could lead children to heat exhaustion. Thus resulting in heat strokes or sunstrokes.A child who has heat exhaustion  due to being out in the sun for long, will feel weak and dizzy. She may have heat cramps in the legs and will definitely look pale. She will also have a high temperature. In most severe case the child could faint or collapse.Parents should always take extra care when sending their kids to school in Private school vans.Last week we got a circular from our children's school that due to the extreme weather conditions, the school will be closing an hour and a half earlier than the usual time. And by next week school will be closed for the Summer holidays.I still cannot forget the incident which happened last summer to a six year old, who was attending the same school as my children. She was locked up in the van for five hours and later died on admission to the hospital. This was a tragic incident and for months I couldn't get over it.So this Summer the school has sent severe warnings to all the school drivers to be extra vigilant in taking care of the school children when shuttling them back and forth.

Mosquito Menace

This Summer vacation is going to be very tough.Since we will be traveling to our holiday home, a destination in the Asian sub continent ,we are preparing ourselves in taking all precautions in case we have to face a battle with the mosquitoes. We will be taking extra safety measures so as to prevent any unfavourable situations. Mosquitoes are said to be active during the day.And that’s the time they usually bite.It is always good to take necessary actions to prevent them from stinging .I wouldn’t want to spoil my summer vacation due to this mosquito menace. Armed with a diversity of knowledge on how to eliminate the breeding places of mosquitoes, I plan to put them into practice, during our one month stay in our holiday home.

These are some preventative measures to be taken to eliminate the breeding places of these dangerous insects.

Mosquitoes breed in still or stagnant water. Do away with possible breeding places where water gets collected , like tin cans, blocked guttering, and old tires. Clear any flower pots and containers that can hold water.

Make periodic checks of the water in flower pots and plant containers. If mosquito larvae are seen, change the water.

Fill all tree holes with sand or mortar, or drain them.

Place tight covers over septic tanks, barrels and tubs where water is stored.

Drain stagnant pools, puddles, ditches, or fill with sand swampy places around the home.

Global Warming

The students of class five were recently taught the effects of global warming. Here my son is holding a tee shirt depicting the sun.I am glad the teacher -in -charge  in the school where my children are  attending ,is creating awareness through various activities and allowing them to understand the grave situations of the effects of global warming. They were also taught what they as children, could do to save our planet from getting ruined .

Homeless Boy Wins The Heart of Many

I have never subscribed to the newsletter ‘An inspiration from God ‘ but someone did. And I receive mails from them .And for some reason or the other I have not unsubscribed myself from their mailing list either, so I keep getting mails on and off from that site.To day as usual, I went through my emails before  starting to work on my other online tasks. My eyes hurriedly wondered here and there and at random , at all the e-mail titles and something made me stop and stare at this particular one titled ‘Homeless Boy steals the show’.( which was sent by the website An inspiration from God). I thought I'll  read through this, no matter what.Deleting all the unnecessary ones, I ventured into this You -tube clipping, not knowing what I was going to expect. Boy! Am I not glad I made avail of this opportunity .It is unbelievable .You got to see to believe this. A homeless boy with an emotion tale ,ended up being cheered and applauded by the crowd ,watching him sing. It’s amazing; he has such a powerful voice and has had no formal training in singing or music .He kept the audience and the judges mesmerized with his vocal cords. By the end of the clipping my eyes were brimming with tears. He was singing Nell Fantasia ,an Italian opera. But even with the language barrier, I appreciated the singing. Music has no language, it is universe. It was truly an inspiration from God .The announcers of the show ,rightly said, that once the show is aired he wouldn’t be alone anymore,he would have millions of fans from around the world.Yes ! How True was that! I just became one.

I wanted to know the meaning of the song he was singing And this is what I found on the internet Here is (the lyrics in English).

In my fantasy I see a fair world,
Where everyone lives in peace and honesty.
I dream of a place to live that is always free,
Like a cloud that floats,
Full of humanity in the depths of the soul.
In my fantasy I see a bright world.
I dream of spirits that are always free,
Liike the cloud that floats.
In my fantasy exists a warm wind,
that breathes into the city, like a friend.
I dream of souls that are always free,
Like the cloud that floats,
Full of humanity in the depths of the soul.

Mother Does Her Way

An elderly woman in one part of the world calls her son in New York , whom she has not seen in years and says, I hate to ruin your day son, but I have to tell you that your dad and I are getting a divorce; 50 years of marriage... and that much misery is enough!'

'Mom, what are you talking about?' the son screams.
'We can't stand the sight of each other any longer,' the old lady continues. 'We're sick and tired of each other, you call your sister in London and tell her!' Frenzied, the son calls his sister, who fly into a rage on the phone.

'Like hell ! they're getting divorced,' she shouts, leave this to me ! 'I'll take care of this.' She calls home immediately, and screams at the old lady: 'You are not getting divorced. Don't do a single thing until I get there. I'm calling my brother back, and we'll both be there tomorrow. Until then , don't do a thing, DO YOU HEAR??' and she hangs up.

The old lady hangs up her phone and turns to her husband. 'Okay dear ', she says, 'It's all done. They're both coming home for our Golden jubilee!!'

For the love of her children a mother can go to extremes and for the sake of having the children with her, whether in times of sadness or during joyous occasions, a mother would do anything to get her way ,even if it is something so intense like the one you just read. Mother’s love never perishes. Reading the above humorous anecdote which is in fact another of my favourite e-mail forwards, reminded me how grateful I am to my Mother for bringing my siblings and me into this world and for having guided us righteously through this journey full of hope, risks and uncertainties..
I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I did...

A Little Bit Of This And That

We have been experiencing a voltage drop in the electrical circuit, the last couple of days. And everything came to a standstill. It was kind of strange when the lightings in the house became dim all of a sudden. Certain electrical appliances were functioning despite the low voltage. At first we thought there was an electrical blackout in our power supply and did everything possible to make it right.Only when My husband went outdoors did we get to know that the whole neighbouring area was having similar issues. We could n't do anything except wait for the technician from the power Company to arrive and restore power .In the meantime I had a time moving my frozen food from the kitchen refrigerator to the one in the pantry which was working.Luckily the pudding I had made earlier had already set,so the children had something cool to nibble on .However we had run out of cool beverages and everyone in the house became very fidgety. With only a partial of power functioning, the whole house was feeling very warm .I tried to make some cool conversation with the children ,who were now becoming restless. We were trying to get  some torches and candles just in case we had a complete outage.Thank God that didn't happen ,The voltage level has increased  a bit and here I am back online.

What does Joey become ?

I was helping my seven year old with his class assignment. The  lesson was 'what do the following young ones grow into..And thus the lesson continued..
An owlet becomes an owl
A cygnet becomes a swan
A kitten becomes  a cat
A joey becomes a ....before he could even open his mouth to answer this one , my soon to be ten- year- old, who was seated on the other end of the room blurted out, 'Joey becomes a Friend' ( Joey -the character from the TV show 'Friends). I burst into fits of laughter hearing this. However  regaining  my composure after a while,I quickly  said, 'joey becomes a kangaroo'.( Now I  see both my sons with raised eyebrows)
What a confusion!!

A Friend In Need Is A Friend Indeed

Once a girl had to walk on a rope bridge. It was very high, she was scared. She saw her friend on the other side and called her out for help but there was no reply .She somehow managed and crossed the bridge. there she was shocked to see her friend holding the end of the broken bridge...

Sometimes we think why our friends are quiet when we call for help . They may not help you in crossing the bridge but, might be holding the broken bridge for you ...

Just trust your friends in every situation, because they are your assets...

To Worry Or Not To Worry

There are two things to worry about
Either you are well or you are sick
If you are well, then there is nothing to worry about
But if you are sick, there are only two things to worry about
Whether you'll get well or whether you will die
If you get well ,there's nothing to worry about

But if you die, there are only two things to worry about
Whether you go to heaven or hell
If you go to heaven ,there is nothing to worry about

And if you go to hell,
You will be so busy shaking hands with old friends you wont have time to worry

So Why Worry !
